Revival Prayer Guide

 Vision of God’s Glory

(1 Timothy 6:15-16, Revelation 4:8, Exodus 3:14)

O Lord, you are the Sovereign God, the blessed controller of all things. You are the King of kings and the Lord of lords. You are the great I AM - the eternal, independent, all powerful, all knowing, ever present, all wise God. You are immortal, you live in unapproachable light. You are the “Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God Almighty who was, and is, and is to come”.

Personal Revival

(Isaiah 6:1-5, Job 42:5-6, Exodus 34:6-7)

The vision of your glory leads us to say, “Lord, be merciful to us sinners”. We confess that –

In our Relationship with You

à         We have neglected diligent study of your Word to find out and do what pleases you.

à         We have been complacent and failed to consistently resist temptation until victory is won over habitual sins.

à         We have entertained thoughts of doubts and unbelief, anxiety and worry, anger and bitterness.

à         We have regularly stretched the truth and made promises that we fail to keep. You call this lying.

à         We have murmured and complained about people and circumstances.

à         We have committed idolatry by fashioning a god after our own desire, choosing to believe and accept certain aspects of your character and ignoring others.

à         We have allowed financial gain, work, family, entertainment, hobbies, things and interests to become idols that crowd out our worship, devotion and service to you.

In our Relationship with our Families:

à         As husbands we have been insensitive and uncaring towards our wives, shown impatience with their imperfections and made unreasonable demands instead of showing love and kindness.

à         As wives we have treated our husbands with disrespect and ignored their needs and desires, because we have harbored hurt feelings, anger and bitterness towards them.

à         As parents, we have been angry, critical and impatient with our children instead of nurturing, guiding and bringing them up with loving discipline.

à         As children, we have often disobeyed our parents, treated them with disrespect and anger and followed worldly examples of behavior from TV programs and other media instead of your Word.

à         As adults, we have not honored our parents, grandparents and other elderly relatives, neglected them emotionally and financially and been impatient and insensitive to their needs, anxieties and failing health. We have overlooked the widows, orphans and unmarried people in our families and not taken care of their needs.

In our Relationship with the Body of Christ:

à         We have neglected consistent fellowship and meaningful service in our local church and have preferred to remain passive spectators.

à         We have criticized and slandered our church leaders, failed to give them encouragement and prayer support and undermined their authority.

à         We have been spiritually selfish and failed to diligently exercise our calling to tell others about Christ for fear of discomfort, embarrassment or rejection.

à         We have shown a callous lack of concern for lost souls by refusing to support or involve ourselves in local, national or global missions.

à         We have not bothered to discover and use our spiritual gifts for the edification of the body of Christ.

à         We have been afraid to raise our voices against controversial issues like abortion, divorce, homosexuality and permissive living, being content with teachings that comfort but do not convict.

In our Relationship with the World:

à         We have compromised by remaining in relationships that are outside of your will.

à         We have harbored hostility and hatred against strangers, public figures, terrorists and criminals. We have wished evil upon godless politicians, social activists and entertainers who attack our values, instead of praying for their souls.

à         We have been so worldly, that we have lost power to be salt and light in the world.

à         We have dabbled in witchcraft, astrology, horoscopes, new age systems of healing and other forms of occult practices.

(Isaiah 57:18, 2 Chronicles 7:14, 1 John 1:9, Philippians 1:6)

We praise you, Lord, for you are a holy God and yet you are merciful. You love us too much to allow us to remain in our sins. Thank you for your faithfulness in cleansing and forgiving all who confess their sins and turn to you. Fill us with a spirit of genuine repentance and change our attitudes and actions. Help us to obey you in your call to service and become productive members of your church. Let your Holy Spirit stir up the gifts within us and re-ignite our service to you that we may serve you passionately and wholeheartedly. We thank you that as we, the body of Christ humble ourselves and seek your face, you have promised to hear our prayers and heal our land.

Revival in the Church

(Romans 12:2, 1 Corinthians 15:57-58, Jude 1:24-25) For the churches in America we pray:

à         For a spirit of conviction, grace and supplication and for a fresh outpouring of your Holy Spirit;

à         For a genuine fear of God to fall upon all your people;

à         For a widespread return to the Bible - to read, study and apply it daily;

à         For deliverance from rebellion, arrogance, disobedience, envy, greed, gossip, slander, malice and other evil habits and tendencies;

à         For every church to reflect Jesus Christ, where members demonstrate forgiveness, acceptance, love and concern for one another and function as one body under the headship of Christ;

à         For unity in the Church, and the breakdown of denominational, language and caste barriers;

We pray that you would revive in your people a love for the lost;

à         That you would raise up numerous prayer warriors in every church to regularly fast and pray for America;

à         That pastors, evangelists and church leaders would have a reverent attitude towards you and your Word and be freed from the temptation to make a name for themselves;

à         That they would preach and teach the truth from your Word with faithfulness and relevance;

à         That backsliders will be restored and nominal Christians brought to a saving knowledge of Christ;

à         That every church will emphasize sharing the gospel so that many members will be added daily to the body of Christ;

à          That Christians will find favor among the people of America and your name will be exalted and glorified as your works are displayed through your people;

à         That those who are being persecuted will gain a deeper level of intimacy with you and a greater power to persevere.

Revival in America

(Jeremiah 18:7-8, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Isaiah 61:1-4, Joel 2:25)

For the people of America we pray that:

• You will grant wisdom to our leaders, so that they will govern with diligence and integrity and will keep the doors open for the sharing of the gospel throughout the land;

• Resistance to the gospel will be removed and the power of Satan will be broken over all citizens;

• Our countrymen will be delivered from corruption, hypocrisy, murder, lying, deceit, falsehood, theft, pride, selfishness, self-centeredness, laziness, injustice, immorality, adultery, fornication, divorce, malice, witchcraft, idolatry, sorcery, hardening of heart against the Lord Jesus, despising the Gospel that saves, abuse of women and children, female infanticide, prostitution, pornography, drug addiction in our youth etc.

• Your Holy Spirit will mightily move in every state, city, town and village, bringing salvation and revival;

(1 Chronicles 29:11, 1 John 5:14) Eternal God, you are great and awesome and clothed in majesty and splendor. You are good and upright and all your ways are just. You are gracious, compassionate and abounding in love. You are our faithful High Priest. We thank you for hearing our prayers and we give you all the glory through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
